Abstract

In the era of US-China race in the beginning of the 21st century, China and Russia have become unusually active in military cooperation. China and Russia are not just military cooperation, but are conducting combined operational exercises and are conducting ground exercises as well as at sea and in the air. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze changes in Sino-Russian military cooperation relations amid changes in the dynamics of international order in Northeast Asia centered on the Korean Peninsula, analyze the impact of strengthening military cooperation between China and Russia on Northeast Asian security, and predict changes in military cooperation between China and Russia in the 2020s. Starting with the 2005 “Mission of Peace,” the drill has been carried out every year or every other year, and since 2012, the combined training of the ‘Joint Sea’ has been held. And China and Russia are developing into multilateral combined exercises, with Mongolia and other countries participating in the Eastern-2018 drill. In particular, China-Russia military exercises were conducted in various ways in 2019. In April, near Qingdao joint naval drills in July, and trained combined flight drill in the East Sea and East China Sea. In September, the Chinese military also participated in the “Central-2019” joint military exercise, mobilizing 128,000 Russian troops. And on July 23, Sino-Russian bombers, fighter and, AWACS came into our KADIZ without permission and, in this situation. And Russia AWACS, A-50 invaded Dokdo territorial air for 7 minutes. Korean fighter planes had a scramble out and warning shots and Japan's Air Self-defense Force fighter jets engaged in this situation. So, Korea, China, Russia and Japanese military aircraft were tangled in their 30 airplanes on the East Sea. The fact that neighboring countries conduct military exercises on the ground, at sea and in the air as combined military exercises poses a major threat to security of South Korea and Northeast Asia due to high-level military cooperation.
