Abstract
(Background and Purpose) As our lives increasingly show the phenomenon of the digital world invading the real world, the boundary between reality and virtuality becomes increasingly blurred. At the same time, with the emergence of concepts such as the metaverse, mixed reality technology has become a medium connecting the virtual universe and the real universe. Gilles Deleuze’s concept of 'Body without organs' in A Thousand Plateaus can provide a new perspective for the application of mixed reality technology in exhibition spaces. By analyzing the process of man-perception-world, human feelings can be visualized through the virtual world. The purpose of this study is to reveal the process of using mixed reality technology in exhibition space to transform perceptual concepts from vague concepts to virtual perception and then back to reality through Deleuze's concept of 'Body without organs', and to explore the perceptual expression methods in mixed reality exhibition space by analyzing the virtual perceptual elements in mixed reality exhibition space. (Method) This paper intends to introduce the theory of 'Body without organs' and the definition of synaesthesia from perception through literature analysis of the concept of 'generative' in Deleuze's philosophy. Then, by analyzing the concepts of types and characteristics of mixed reality technology, combined with the concept of synaesthesia in the theory of 'Body without organs', the definition of the concept of virtual perception is proposed. Then, by analyzing the spatial characteristics of virtual perception concepts in mixed reality display spaces, virtual perception concepts are brought into various mixed reality display spaces for analysis and evaluation, thus completing the virtualization theory of perception concepts in mixed reality display spaces. (Results) From a theoretical perspective, the concept of synaesthesia based on the theory of 'Body without organs' is expanded. Combining the characteristics of mixed reality technology and mixed reality display space, a new concept of virtual perception is proposed, and the virtual perception characteristics. Finally, the virtual perception characteristics of mixed reality exhibition space are analyzed and verified through actual cases. (Conclusions) Mixed reality technology realizes the immersion of sensory experience from a technical level, but in the display space, mixed reality technology further enhances the human perception level. Based on Deleuze's concept of 'Body without organs', this article takes the human synaesthesia perception level as a new medium and produces a preliminary idea of linking synaesthesia with virtual space. Therefore, this study summarizes and analyzes the virtual environment embodiment of the concept of synaesthesia in mixed reality technology, and interprets and thinks about the concept of virtual perception from the analysis of mixed reality display space design cases, which becomes the theoretical design basis of synaesthesia for future mixed reality display spaces and has certain reference value.
