Abstract
(Background and Purpose) The historical and cultural neighborhoods represent the city's core spatial areas, containing historical and cultural elements that reflect the city's historical memory, local cultural traditions, and social structures. However, as modernization accelerates, a number of challenges emerge. In light of these considerations, the involvement of local residents assumes a pivotal role in the process of revitalising historical and cultural neighborhoods This study concentrates on resident participation in the process of revitalizing historical and cultural neighborhood and analyzes the impact of resident participation. Ultimately, the purpose of the study is to find correlated elements of resident participation and effective participation methods and derive factors that contribute to the sustainable development and dynamic revival of historical and cultural neighborhood. (Method) The purpose of research was achieved using a multiple linear regression method through an empirical analysis. First, through prior research, key design elements for revitalizing historical and cultural neighborhoods were derived. Second, the concept of resident participation was elucidated. Third, the research variable selection and the analysis model were proposed. Fourth, a research hypothesis was established based on previous research. Fifth, a questionnaire was created to measure the variables and the demographic characteristics of the study subjects were summarized. Sixth, the reliability and validity of the questionnaire were verified using SPSS27.0, and confirmatory factor and correlation analysis were performed. Seventh, the hypothesis was verified using multiple linear regression analysis. Finally, the research results were analyzed and directions were suggested. (Results) In this study, SPSS27.0 was used for regression analysis and hypothesis testing, and it was found that all four factors of district revitalization, cultural revitalization, economic revitalization, and social revitalization had an effect on resident participation. However, only neighborhood revitalization and economic revitalization had a significant impact, whereas cultural revitalization had a moderate impact, and social revitalization had a relatively limited impact. These results may be attributed to an imbalance in the influence of factors, data quality and reliability, and the influence of other variables. (Conclusions) Although cultural revitalization and social revitalisation exert a comparatively lesser influence on resident participation than district revitalization and economic revitalization, all four factors significantly impact on resident participation. This evidence substantiates the assertion that these factors are pivotal in determining levels of resident participation. Therefore, this study proposed a development strategy to strengthen the impact of these four factors on resident participation. However, due to the online survey method, it proved difficult to identify the individual level of the subjects being surveyed, and potential control variables were not considered in the regression analysis. Further research is required to derive more meaningful results by customizing and exploring potential control variables that may affect resident participation in the process of revitalizing historical and cultural neighborhoods.
