네이버 기사 댓글에 나타난 온라인 사적 제재에 대한 네티즌들의 인식 분석: 밀양 여중생 집단 성폭행 사건을 중심으로

최근 들어 ‘참교육’ 콘텐츠의 확산과 함께 온라인 사적 제재에 대한 대중의 지지가 증가하고 있으나 이를 실증적으로 분석한 연구는 부족하다. 이에 본 연구는 유튜버 ‘나락보관소’가 2004년 ‘밀양 여중생 집단 성폭행 사건’의 가해자 신상을 공개한 사례에 집중하여 관련 네이버 뉴스 기사에 달린 댓글을 분석 자료로 활용하였다. 수집한 댓글은 전처리 과정을 거쳐 빈도 분석, 토픽 모델링, 감성 분석에 활용되었다. 분석 결과, 대중은 온라인 사적 제재에 일관된 찬반 태도를 보이기보다는 사건의 성격, 실행 주체의 진정성, 제삼자의 피해 가능성 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 수용하거나 비판하는 경향을 보였다. 또한, 댓글은 단순한 의견 표출을 넘어 제도 불신, 정의 실현에 대한 열망, 피해자에 대한 연민이 교차하는 공론장의 역할을 수행하고 있었다. 본 연구는 댓글이라는 비정형 텍스트를 통해 온라인 사적 제재에 대한 인식을 심층적으로 이해할 수 있는 기반을 제공했다는 데 의의가 존재한다.
Abstract
With the recent rise of “True Education” content, public support for cyber vigilantism has increased. However, empirical research on this phenomenon remains limited. This study examines the case in which a YouTuber disclosed the identities of the perpetrators involved in the ‘Milyang Sexual Violence Incident(2004)’. Comments posted on related NAVER News articles were used as the data source. The collected comments were preprocessed and then analyzed for frequency analysis, topic modeling, and sentiment analysis. The analysis revealed that the public does not express a consistent stance of support or opposition toward cyber vigilantism. Instead, they tend to evaluate such actions, taking into account factors such as nature of the incident, sincerity of the actor, and potential harm to third parties. Furthermore, the comments served not merely as expressions of opinion, but as a public forum in which distrust of institutions, a desire for justice, and sympathy toward victims intersected. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of public perceptions of cyber vigilantism by analyzing unstructured text data from user comments.
