Korean Language Learners' Collocational Word Association and Its Implication for Classroom Teaching

본 연구는 어휘 연상 실험을 통해 외국인 학습자들과 모국어 화자들의 어휘 연상 차이에 대해 조사 분석하였다. 특히 연어에 초점을 두고 기초 학습자들이 모국어 화자들에 비해 어떠한 방식으로 어휘 간의 결합을 이해하고 사용하는가를 분석하고자 하였다. 분석 결과 모국어 화자들은 어휘 간의 결합이 긴밀한 연어를 연상하는 빈도가 외국인 학습자들보다 2배 가까이 높았다. 반면 외국인 학습자들은 단어 간의 결합 관계가 연어보다 약한 주어+서술어, 목적어+서술어, 부사어+서술어 형태의 결합을 연상하는 빈도가 높았다. 모국어 화자들이 연상한 연어의 예들이 초급 학습자들이 이미 학습한 고빈도 기초 어휘들의 결함임에도 불구하고 학습자들의 연어 연상 빈도는 낮게 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 학습자들의 연어에 대한 이해 증진과 연어 사용 능력 향상을 위한 구체적인 교육 방안에 대해 논의하였다. 아울러 초급 학습자부터 고급 학습자까지 활용할 수 있는 다양한 연어 학습 활동과 교수법도 함께 제시하였다.
