어머니의 영양표시 이용이 자녀의 비만에 미치는 영향

초록

최근 소아 청소년의 비만 문제가 전 세계적 이슈로 부각되고 있지만, 부모의 행태가 자녀의 비만에 미치는 연구는 많지 않다. 본 연구는 어머니의 영양표시 이용 여부가 자녀의 비만에 주는 영향을 분석하였다. 자료는 국민건강영양조사의 5기(2011년)를 활용하였으며, 연구방법은 선택적 편의(Selection Bias)를 줄이기 위해 성향점수매칭(Propensity Score Matching)을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 어머니의 영양표시제도 이용이 자녀의 비만요소인 BMI Z Score(연령과 성별을 고려하여 표준화한 아이의 체질량 지수)의 감소에 긍정적인 효과를 주는 것으로 나타났다.

Abstract

Recently, obesity in children and adolescents has become a major issue all over the world, while there are a few researches about the impacts of parents' behavior on children's obesity. This research investigates impacts of mothers’ identification of nutritional labelling to their children’s obesity. In this study, the 5th National Health Survey conducted in 2011 are used, and propensity score matching is applied to reduce selection bias. The result shows that mother's identification of nutrition labelling reduces children’s obesity measured by BMI Z Score and waist line.
