Abstract
This study views retirement as a gradual process, investigating factors influencing reemployment after retirement among wage workers and analyzing its impact on health. Using the NHIS-National Health Information Database(NHIS-NHID)(2012-2021), we categorized retirees aged 50 to 60 into full and partial retirees based on post-retirement employment changes. Factors influencing re-employment after retirement were examined, and the impact of full and partial retirement on healthcare utilization related to depression and stroke was analyzed. Results indicate that males with younger age, lower health insurance premium ranks, shorter tenures, and larger company sizes, especially in general (non-governmental) workplaces had a significantly higher probability of opting for partial retirement over full retirement. Additionally, compared to full retirees, partial retirees had a significantly reduced probability of healthcare utilization related to depression and stroke. The impact varied depending on workplace characteristics and health insurance premium ranks. Retirement not only affects economic status but also has health implications, linking to healthy aging and the burden of healthcare expenses for the elderly. Active research and discussions on the impact of retirement on health are crucial.
