초록

노년기 세대관계 유형의 변화양상을 분석한 논문(종단연구(1))에 이어 세대관계의 유형 및 변화의 결정 요인들을 규명하는 것이 본 논문의 목적이다. 자료는 종단 연구인 Hallym Aging Study의 일부를 사용하였으며, 조사 대상은 2003년도와 2007년도 조사에 참여한 유자녀 노인 918명이다. 두 시점(T1, T2)에서 도출된 5가지 세대관계의 유형들-밀착형, 부모제공형, 부모수혜형, 별거친밀형, 소원형-에 영향을 주는 요인들에 대한 분석은 이항 로지스틱 회귀분석(binary logistic regression analysis) 방법을 사용하였다. 횡단분석과 종단분석을 종합하여 볼 때, 세대관계 유형의 변화를 결정하는 요인들 중 부모 관련 요인은 부모의 성과 건강, 경제적 여유가 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 자녀관련 요인으로는 자녀와의 관계에 대한 만족도 등 세대관계의 질이, 사회적 요인 중에서는 노인복지서비스 이용이 중요한 것으로나타났다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 함의 및 정책적 시사점이 제시되었다.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the determining factors of the five types of intergenerational relations and their change longitudinally. The preexisting panel data, HAS(Hallym Aging Study) the 1 wave data (2003,T1 ) and the 3 wave data (2007, T2) is used. T he respondents were 916 parents who were over 65 years at T1 period. The binary logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify the determining factors at T 1 and T 2period. The results from the study and its implication for the social welfare are as follows. First, among the parent-related variables, the gender,health, and economic status are shown to be the most crucial determinant in intergenerational relations. More specifically, the males, especially poor males who are estranged from the children, turn out to be the target for the social concern and various intervention. Second, among child-related factors, the subjective sense of satisfactions with the relations with their children proved to be a central factor. It is needed to develop the policies and programs to strengthen them. Third, the use of social services for the elderly are shown to affect the intergenerational relations significantly. Especially, social services have played a substantial role in that the parent doesn't live together but keeps intimate relationships with the children in spite of their health problems. It implies that enlargement and widespread use of the various public social services for the elderly are needed urgently.
