장애 아동 양육자의 장애수용과 희망에 관한 근거이론 연구

본 연구는 장애아동 양육자가 장애를 수용하고 시민권을 가진 사회인으로서 성장해 가는 과정과 유형을 밝히는 것을 목적으로 근거이론 방법을 활용한 질적 연구이다. 연구참여자는 장애아동을 둔 어머니 7명으로 포화상태에 이르기까지 심층적 면담을 실시하였으며 평균 면접 회수는 1인당 3회 정도이다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 근거이론 연구의 가장 의미 있어야 하는 중요현상으로서, 장애수용이 분석되었다. 양육자들은 아동의 장애를 최초로 인지한 순간부터 수많은 갈등과 고통을 경험하며 서로를 비난하고 가책하지만 아동의 장애까지 가족으로 포용하며 가족되기의 과정을 지속적으로 이루어간다. 둘째, 연구의 중심주제로서 근거이론 방법의 선택코딩에서 분석된 핵심범주는 장애아동의 장애까지 가족으로 수용하고 사회적 권리의식을 실현함이다. 가족은 아동의 장애를 수용하는데서 그치는 것이 아니라 가족의 경계를 넘어서는 사회적 맥락에서 위축되거나 고립되는 것이 아니라 아동이 시민권을 지닌 사회인으로 성장하고 발달해 가기 위해서 투쟁을 하며 이에 대한 확고한 신념을 굳혀간다. 이상의 연구결과를 바탕으로 다음과 같이 제언하였다. 첫째, 장애인과 비장애인은 연속적 존재이며 단절될 수 없다는 인식의 전환이 필요하다. 이러한 인식의 전환은 장애인과 비장애인 모두에게 필요하다. 둘째, 장애수용은 우리 사회와 무관한 장애아동 가족만의 과업이 아니라 사회적 과업으로 재평가 되어야 한다. 셋째, 한국사회에서 장애아동에 대한 사회적 원조체계가 장애아동 입장에서 보면 생애지속적인 속성을 지니며 가족의 입장에서 보며 공조적 속성을 지녀야 하며 아울러 장애아동 가족의 욕구에 기반해야 한다.
Abstract
The aims of this study is to make cleat that families of children with intellectual disabilities accept the disabilities and bring up the children to social members with citizen rights. This qualitative research is conducted by in-depth interviews with the mothers of children with intellectual disabilities. The grounded theory suggested by Strauss and Corbin is used for research analysis. As a result of this study is followed; 1. The core phenomenon is 'the acceptance of disabilities'. The family undergo so many troubles about children with intellectual disabilities, blame each other and themselves, but finally comprehend the disabilities and hold on family making. 2. The core category of this study is to actualize the rights consciousness of citizen of the children with disabilities. The proposal of this study is that the conversion of the recognition for the disabled, and disabilities-acceptance is social task not only families', finally the social support systems for children with disabilities must have the attribute of life continuance for the disabled and mutual cooperation for family and the children.
