이 글은 요약, 논평, 학술에세이 쓰기로 진행되는 성균관대학교의 <학술적 글쓰기> 강좌에서 독립적으로 구현될 수 있는 수업 단위를 추출하고 이를 모듈화하는 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 이러한 모듈화가 의미 있는 것은 <학술적 글쓰기> 수업의 핵심 단계인 요약, 논평, 에세이 쓰기가 대학교에서 이루어지는 모든 교육과 연구의 공통 기반을 훈련하는 필수 과정이기 때문이다. 대학 글쓰기 교육의 완성은 글쓰기 과목에서만 아니라 교양 및 전공 과정의 모든, 아니면 적어도 대다수 수업에서 글쓰기가 동반될 때 이루어질 것이다. 하지만 이를 위한 구체적인 수단과 전략은 마련되지 않은 채 정체된 상태로 있다. 필자는 <학술적 글쓰기>의 세부 과정에 대한 모듈화가 이러한 정체 상황을 깨고 전진할 수 있는 좋은 디딤돌이 될 수 있다고 생각한다. 이 글에서는 먼저 (1)모듈의 의미와 모듈식 수업의 특성을 알아보고, (2)성균관대학교 <학술적 글쓰기> 강좌의 특징과 이로부터 단계적으로 개발해 나갈 수 있는 가능한 수업 모듈들을 찾아낸 다음, (3) 글쓰기를 전공 영역으로 확산시키는 데 적절하다고 생각하는 모듈의 형태를 요약문 쓰기 모듈, 논평문 쓰기 모듈, 학술에세이 쓰기 모듈을 통해 구체적으로 제시하도록 하겠다.
Abstract
This paper is trying to suggest the way in which we can extract independent instruction units from the Academic Writing course given by Sungkwunkwan University and make them instructive modules. It is significant to develop instructive module from the course, because three elements of the Step-up Writing Program of the course, that is, summary, comment and essay writing are common and necessary grounds of all practices, studies and researches conducted in university. The completion of the education of academic writing consists in its ubiquitous permeating into all kinds of subjects, whether it is major or liberal. But we are lacking in ability without having any realistic mean and strategy. I think that those modules suggested by me become a springboard for breaking the inability and achieving the completion. In this paper, you can find (1) the meaning of module, (2) the characteristics of Academic Writing course given by Sungkyunkwan University and possible modules that could be developed by the course, and (3) the concrete contents of summary writing module, comment writing module, and academy essay writing module which are best fit to spread intensive reading, thinking and writing experiences over major subjects.
