Abstract

This study focused on how feminity frames work on the reporting on female politicians in broadcasting news. Under the academic guidance of evolutionary model and socio-cultural model, respectively sex-role frame and feminist frame were suggested. These frames were cross-tabulated with reporting attitude, reporting orientation, reporting context, and reporting order. For this analysis, the author collected the prime time news from the start day of a official election period throughout the month after a election during 2000 and 2006. The result showed that 1) feminist frame had objective attitude and neutral/positive slant, appearing more frequently in the context of reporting of issues and policies and that 2) sex-role frame was portrayed as negative in the context of reporting personal history.
