본 연구의 목적은 발달과정에서 어머니와 사별한 연구대상자의 애도 경험을 상황 속의 맥락들과 관련지어 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 질적 연구 방법 중 하나인 자문화기술지를 적용하였고, 자기회상 및 자기성찰 자료, 글쓰기 자료와 대화 자료 등을 수집하여 ‘감성적-고백적’, ‘분석적-해석적’ 글쓰기 방식으로 애도 경험을 서술하였다. 수집된 자료는 생태체계이론과 전생애발달이론에 기초한 분석틀을 통해 애도 과정을 연대기순으로 정리하여 애도 반응에 영향을 미친 요인을 개인체계, 가족체계, 사회체계로 분석, 해석하였다. 그 결과, 16개의 세부경험을 도출하였고, 이를 11개의 하위주제, 2개의 상위주제인 ‘상실로 인한 정서적 고통의 억압’과 ‘상실을 끌어안아 시작한 애도 경험’으로 범주화하였다. 각 체계의 맥락들과 관련지어 애도 과정을 탐색한 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 발달과정에서 부모와 사별한 자녀의 애도 과정에 보편성을 드러냈다. 마지막으로, 본 연구의 한계점과 의의, 부모 사별 자녀의 적응적인 애도 과정을 조력하기 위한 과제들을 제언하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the mourning process of the research subjects who bereaved mothers in childhood in connection with various contexts. To this end, one of the qualitative research methods, Autoethnography was applied, and the mourning experience was described through ‘emotional-confession’ and ‘analytical-interpretation’ writing methods by collecting reminiscence, self-reflection, writing, and conversation data. The collected data were organized in chronological order, and the factors that influenced the mourning response were analyzed and interpreted as personal, family, and social systems through an analysis framework based on ecological system theory and life-span development theory. As a result, 16 experiences were derived, and they were categorized into 11 sub-topics, two upper-top topics, “mourning process of suppression of emotional pain caused by loss” and “mourning process of embracing loss.” Based on the results of this study, it represented how the contexts of each system interacted in the mourning process, it revealed the universality in the mourning process of children who died from their parents in the development process. Finally, the limitations, significance of this study and the tasks to assist in the adaptive mourning process of children by parental bereavement were suggested.
