Abstract

This study aimed to analyze how middle-aged and older people’s Digital information literacy level affects their satisfaction with digital transformation and to investigate the mediating effect on theirexperience of digital information services during COVID-19. We utilized data from 2,300 middle-aged and older individuals aged 55 and above from the 2022 Digital Information Gap Survey. We examined how digital information literacy levels influenced middle-aged and older people’s experience of COVID-19 digital services as a mediator, and its impact on satisfaction with digital transformation as a dependent variable. COVID-19 digital service experience mediates the relationship between Digital information competency level and satisfaction with digital transformation. The study revealed that the impact of middle-aged and older individuals’ digital information skills on their happiness with digital transformation is enhanced by their experience with COVID-19 digital services, with COVID-19 digital service experience likely acting as a mediator in this relationship. Thus, there is a necessity for policies aimed at improving the digital skills and service satisfaction of middle-aged and elderly individuals. It is crucial to involve them in the design of services. Various legislative initiatives and educational programs are required to close the information disparity and enhance the contentment of elderly individuals.
