한국어에서의 ‘바람(wish)’ 개념의 실현 방책과 범주에 대하여

본 연구에서는 한국어를 대상으로 ‘바람’ 개념의 다양한 실현 방책을 확인하고그범주를 규정해 보고자 하였다. 문장, 어휘적 어사, 문법적 어사와 관련된 일곱가지 유형을 확인하였는데, 내용은 다음과 같다.①명령문의 기원적 해석, ②청유문의 기원적 해석, ③기원문 표지 ‘-소서’의 사용,④연결어미 ‘-면’이 이끄는 반사실적 조건절의 기원적 해석, ⑤기원을 나타내는 동사를 서술어로 사용, ⑥희구를 나타내는 우언적 구성의 사용, ⑦‘제발, 꼭, 부디, 아무쪼록’ 등을 ①-⑥ 의 경우와 함께 사용, 등이다. 그리고 이들 각각의 문법 범주를 규정하고자 하였다. ①, ②의경우는 문법 범주로서의 문장 유형으로 ‘명령문’과 ‘청유문’을 설정하였다. 화자가 원하는 사태가 수행주의 통제 가능성 밖에 있을 때 기원의 의미가 해석된다. ③의 경우는 기원문 표지 ‘-소서’를 설정하고 이것이 사용된 문장 유형 ‘기원문’을 설정하였다. 문말 서법으로서는 간접인용절에서의 특성을 고려하여 ‘명령법’으로 보았다. ④의 경우는 조건의 연결어미 ‘-면’이 이끄는 반사실적 조건절을 ‘부사절’로 규정하였고, 의미 특성을 강조한다면 ‘조건 부사절’로 부를 수 있다고 보았다. ⑤의 경우는 기원이라는 의미를 공유하는 ‘기원 동사’를 설정하였다. ⑥의 경우는문법적 양태로 규정할 수 있고, 의미를 특정한다면 ‘희구의 동적 양태’로 규정할 수 있을 것으로 보았다. ⑦의 경우는 ‘양태 부사’이고 의미 특성을 강조하면 ‘기원양태 부사’로 설정할 수 있다고 보았다. 그리고 마지막으로 그간 종합적으로 논의된 바 없는 다섯 가지 우언적 구성들을 대상으로 공통점과 차이점에 대해 논의하였다.
Abstract
This paper aims at investigating various strategies for expressing a concept of ‘wish’ and designating individual grammatical categories of them. The biggest reason for this discussion is that ‘wish’ was little treated conceptual category in Korean linguistics. There are seven ways that could mean ‘wish’; ①optative interpretation of imperative sentence, ②optative interpretation of hortative sentence, ③use of optative sentence marker ‘-soseo’, ④optative interpretation of counterfactual conditional clause led by connective ending ‘-myeon’, ⑤predicative use of verbs denoting ‘wish’, ⑥use of periphrastic construction denoting ‘wish’,⑦ use of optative modality adverb ‘jebal, budi, amujjorog, etc.’ with the strategies ①-⑥ . The grammatical categories of ①-⑦ are as follows. ① and ② are imperative sentence and hortative sentence as grammatical sentence type. These are interpreted as optative when a situation desired by the speaker is out of controllability of the agent. ‘-soseo’ of ③ is an optative sentence marker, and the whole sentence is optative sentence. In this case, it is imperative mood in terms of a property that is expressed by ‘-(eu)ra’ in the indirect quotation clause. ‘-myeon’ of ④ is connective ending, and the clause led by it is a conditional adverbial clause. In ⑤ and ⑦, verbs and modality adverb of ‘wish’ could be set up as a kind of lexical classes. And ⑥ is desiderative (grammatical) modality that is not necessary and have nothing to do with any speech-act. Finally, it is examined that similarities and differences between five periphrastic constructions.
