한일 유지산업의 무역구조 및 경쟁력 분석

본 연구의 목적은 한일간에 유지산업을 대상으로 지난 10년간 무역구조와 비교우위에서 어떠한 변화가 있었는지를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 분석결과 한국은 동물성유지에 비교우위가 있고, 일본은 식물성유지에 비교우위가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한국의 유지산업은 일본으로부터 많은 무역적자를 실현하고 있으나 일본에서 경쟁력을 유지하고 있는 품목들이 증가하고 있다. 특히, 한류의 영향으로 스킨, 로션 등 기초화장품의 수출특화 및 경쟁력이 증가하고 있다. 앞으로 한･일 FTA 등이 체결되면 양국은 자국이 경쟁력이 있는 분야나 핵심 기능은 국내에서 제조하고 나머지 기능은 체결국에서 가치사슬(value chain)을 구축할 가능성이 커 유지산업에도 산업 분업화가 빠르게 진행될 것으로 예상된다.
Abstract
This aim of this study is to examine the change of the trading structure and comparative advantages for the last 10 years between Korea and Japan with special reference to fats and oils industry. As a result, it is proved that Korea has comparative advantages in animal fats and oils, while Japan has comparative advantages in vegetable fats and oils. The fats and oils industry in Korea yields trade deficit, but increasing number of products keeps competitiveness in Japan. In particular, the export specialty and competitiveness increase in skin care cosmetics due to the influence of the Korean Wave. If Korea–Japan FTA is entered, the two countries would focus on competitive areas or core functions for domestic manufacturing, and value chains would be constructed for other functions in the counterpart country, which might promote rapid industry specialization for the fats and oils industry.
