일본기업의 자원순환 정책과 환경ㆍ경제성과의 관련성에 관한 연구

기업은 중장기적으로 지구온난화에 대비하기 위하여 CO2배출량의 감소에 힘써야 하고 한정된 자원을 보다 효율적으로 이용하는 방법을 강구할 필요가 있다. 본고에서는 자원순환 활동의 수준이 환경적 성과(CO2배출량의 감소)와 미래의 재무성과 및 이 2가지 성과를 통합한 환경경제효율(탄소생산성)에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 실증 분석하였다. 분석결과는 자원순환 활동을 개선시키기 위한 노력이 CO2배출량의 감소에는 긍정적 영향을 미치며 매출액 기준의 환경경제효율(매출액/CO2배출량)에도 양의 영향을 미치고 있다. 한편 자원순환 활동을 개선시키기 위한 노력이 ROA와 ROE에는 부정적 영향을 미치나 Tobin-q에는 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것을 보여주고 있다. 또한 에너지집약산업에 속하는 기업일수록 자원순환 활동과 환경 및 재무성과와 상대적으로 강한 관련성을 보여주었다.
Abstract
To establish CO2emissions reduction and resource efficient system, setting up an optimal resource circulation strategy becomes the most crucial goal that impact company management. This study examine the Relations among Resource Circulation, Environmental Performance and of Economic Performance in Japanese Companies. The results show that ‘‘good’’ resource circulation is significantly associated with ‘‘good’’ environmental performance(CO2 emissions reduction and eco- efficiency). The analysis also show that firms increasing the level of resource circulation are able to gain superior financial performance(Tobin-Q), but are negatively relationship with financial performance(ROA, ROE). Finally, the findings prove that differences exist in the relationship between determinants and effect of resource circulation when grouped by industry characteristics.
