Abstract
In this paper we have examined whether during the 1997 East asian crisis there was any contagion from the region (Thailane, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea) to the Japan. Following Forbes and Rigobon (2002), Rigobon (2003), and Caporale et al. (2002), we have tested the contagion as a positive shift in the degree of co-movement between asset returns, taking into account heteroscedascity and endogeneity bias. Also we found that the impact of the East ASsian crisis on Japan was small.
