초록
With the experience in the fratricidal war and the division of the nation, our army is a world that has a unique meaning and status undeniable in our society. However, the world is sometimes regarded as an area of problem due to its internal contradictions and limitations coming from conflict between organizations and individuals. According to Foucault, the army is a typical society controlled through systematic regulation so that ruling power can work even on microscopic areas of the body. In the army, the meaning of individuals is limited to a subsidiary and instrumental being for maximizing the capacity of the army. Recognizing this problem, the present study examined the features of army units exposing the scenes of systematic regulation and control and army hospitals, the fields where consequent problems are concentrated, through Lee Mun-yeol’s Saehagok, Seo Jeong-in’s Husong, and Kim Yoo-taek's ‘Hello! Jamaica.’ These works reveal that the army turns its face away from the existence of individuals while it fails to realize just values and establishes a system oppressing private realities, and furthermore, it damages individuals’ body and mind and deprives them of their life through violence.
