정형화된 혐오와 전시되는 광기 -한국 텔레비전드라마의 ‘악녀’ 연구-

Abstract

Wicked female antagonists have hardly failed to appear in almost all Korean Television dramas as if they were key parts, playing the roles of causing dramatic conflicts. Notably, those antagonists in Korean Television dramas have exhibited ever more extreme emotional and behavioral intensity since the early 2000s. Wicked female antagonists emerging since the 2000s are distinct from their predecessors, who had clear causes such as‘taking vengeance on those who harmed their families,’and do evil deeds to other women for success or out of jealousy. Also, such antagonists engage in wrongdoing like machine, with valid grounds for evil deeds or inner conflicts being minimized. The frequent presence of inhumanely wicked female antagonists called to emanate rage by acting out vice in the absence of behavioral and psychological probabilities has driven Korean Television dramas to a milieu rampant with coerced extreme anger. Wicked antagonists offering both the pleasure of violation and the anxiety over destruction are attractive and indispensable components for the sake of dramatic events and emotion. In addition, in that vice in itself is relevant to human nature, it may be natural for Television dramas to pay attention to wicked female antagonists. Still, a series of Television dramas drawing disproportionately on the madness of wicked female antagonists irrespective of probability and their irrationally formulated fury provoking repugnance have dominated Television dramas.
