Modal auxiliary Neng and Hui have a high usage frequency, while Korean students tend to make errors when using these two auxiliaries. This paper analyzes Neng, Hui and -ㄹ+수+있다 from the perspective of alethic modality, deontic modality and epistemic modality, and categorizes the errors into four types. This paper attempts to probe into the cause of errors according to the negative transfer of native language, overgeneralization of target language and textbook editing.
