본고는 明代 北京에서 시작된 會館 즉 文人試館이 출현하게 된 배경을 고찰하고 이어서 당시 문인시관이 어떠한 기능과 역할을 했는지 살펴보는 것을 주된 내용으로 한다. 문인시관이 만들어진 가장 큰 원인은 바로 명 영락제 이후 남경에서 북경으로 천도를 하면서 과거시험장이 이전되었기 때문이다. 멀리 지방에서 올라온 수많은 擧人들과 그 수행원들의 숙식이 큰 문제로 대두되었고, 이때 安徽 출신 관리 兪謨가 고향 이름을 내세운 蕪湖會館을 건립하자 다른 지방 출신 관리들도 자신들의 회관을 짓기 시작했다. 이렇게 만들어진 문인시관은 먼저 ‘交流와 述懷의 공간’ 역할을 했다. 거인들 간의 다양한 인적교류가 이루어졌고 會試의 합격여부에 따라 다양한 述懷가 있었다. 이는 고스란히 詩文으로 체현되고 회관에는 楹聯과 館詩가 남게 된다. 한편 문인시관은 ‘崇神과 尊賢의 공간’이기도 하다. 과거급제라는 염원을 가진 거인들에게는 정신적으로 의지할 대상이 필요했다. 鄕土神 사당이 있어서 끈끈한 유대감을 형성할 수 있었고, 文神과 鄕賢을 모신 사당이 있어 합격에 대한 간절한 마음을 의탁할 수 있었다.
Abstract
This paper examines the background of the emergence of the Chinese Literati guild hall, which began in Beijing, Ming Dynasty. The main content is to examine the function and role of the Literati guild hall at that time. The biggest reason is that the test site was relocated after Emperor Yongle moved from Nanjing to Beijing. The accommodation of numerous applicants and their entourage from the countryside has emerged as a major problem. At this time, Yu-Mo, a government official from Anhui, built the Wuhu Literati guild hall. Then officials from other provinces began to build on it. The Literati guild hall first served as a space for Communication and Emotional expression. It will be written as a poem and the hall will be filled with Couplets and the Literati guild hall poem. On the other hand, the Literati guild hall is also a space of Worship God and Respect the sage. There’s a local shrine, so they can build a strong bond. With a shrine dedicated to the literary gods, they were able to rely on their earnest desire for acceptance.
