In this paper, I argue that text linguistics does not meet the interest of linguists, because, even after learning the theories of text linguistics, linguists are not able to properly study and analyze given texts. There are two main reasons for these problems. Firstly,text linguists have mainly concentrated on developing the theories and methods of text linguistics, using texts that illustrate only their arguments. This means that the texts are not the main concerns of text linguistics. Secondly, when text linguistics research was conducted, the reconstruction of sentence structure and prepositional meaning were studied, but the intentional meaning of texts was not. I propose that text linguistics should adopt the concept of qualitative research, because it has many features which would enhance text linguistics. In addition, text linguistics can improve the quality of qualitative research with its theories and methods. This means that both research disciplines can complement each other. The main goal of this article is to explain how and why this can be accomplished.
