국내외 식물원 운영 시스템 비교 - 한국 국립수목원과 해외 사례를 중심으로 -

본 연구의 목적은 수목원의 보편적 활용 측면에서 국내 식물원 및 수목원 시스템의 발전방향을 모색하고자, 해외 식물원 시스템의 현황을 파악함과 동시에 우리나라 국립수목원을 함께 비교, 평가하는데 있다. 조사대상 식물원은 해외 국가별 식물원 7곳과 한국의 경기도 광릉에 위치한 국립수목원을 대상으로 하였다. 조사방법은 조사자가 직접 방문한 주요 식물원을 중심으로 하여 전화 인터뷰, 이메일, 페이스북을 통해 관련 자료를 수집하였으며, 또한 각 기관 홈페이지를 접속하여 비교자료를 수집하였다. 각 식물원의 현황을 비교한 결과, 전체면적, 개원년도, 보유식물종수, 입장료 별로 차이가 있었지만, 프로그램 및 이벤트 행사 등을 통해 보면 단순 전시와 연구 목적 이상의 참여와 체험의 식물원으로 영역을 확장하고 있다. 한편 홈페이지 사이트를 비교해 본 결과, 정보제공의 측면에서 국제적 공용어인 영어지원 사이트가 별도로 필요한 것으로 나타났으며, 쌍방향의 의사소통을 위한 소셜네트워크(Social Network)의 활용이 더더욱 필요한 것으로 판단된다.
Abstract
This study aims to compare and assess the Korea National Arboretum and the botanical gardens of abroad cases through investigating the operation system of each institute, which makes a suggestion possible for developing botanical gardens and arboretums in Korea further. The botanical gardens surveyed were the Korea National Arboretum in Korea and 7 focused gardens of abroad cases. Surveyer directly visited each research site, collected data by telephone interview, email, and facebook, and accessed portal site homepage. As a result of comparing, there was a little difference in total area, established year, number of plant species, and entrance fee. However, almost all botanical gardens extended their areas to visitor participation and experience beyond simple display of plant and research purpose. Assessment of portal site homepage showed that it was necessary to build specific site homepage written in English as a common language worldwide, and that more importantly social network services should be activated for efficient communication between visitors and organisations.
