정치의 본질은 숙의를 통해 행위를 위한 의사결정을 하는 것이다. 이는 불확실하고 불일치의 상황에서 진행된다. 그렇기 때문에 정치 담화는 본질적으로 숙의적이고 논증적이다. 이에 바탕을 두고 논증 이론의 관점으로 정치 담화의 실천 논증을 분석하기 위한 이론적 틀을 알아보았다. 이 과정에서 텍스트 분석 이론인 RST를 통해 논증을 효과적으로 재구성함으로써, RST의 기술적 타당성을 확인할 수 있었다. 논증은 확인하고, 분석하고, 평가하고, 창조하는 일련의 과정으로 이루어진다. 본고는 논증 분석의 차원에서 CDA와 PDA의 접근방식에 기여할 수있음을 강조하였다. 이후의 연구에서는 이러한 분석의 틀을 중심으로 하여논증을 비판적으로 평가하는 후속 작업이 진행될 필요가 있다. 이를 통해언어와 사회 그리고 언어와 정치의 관계에 대한 새로운 시각을 획득할 수있을 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this researchis to analyse political discourse with rhetorical structure theory whichis one of the text analysis theory. For the research purpose, practicalargumentation that was suggested by Isabela Fairclough and NormanFairclough can be introduced first. Circumstantial-goal practical argumentationis composed of circumstantial, goal, value, means-goal premise,and claim. First, circumstantial premise suggests problem circumstancefor claim, and the claim is means of goal-premise. Value premisefunctions to restrict goal and circumstantial premise and makes limitof action range. These components should be reconstructed by structureof text. Rhetorical structure theory that was widely acknowledged asdescriptive adequacy in the text analysis can be useful tool of analysisof political discourse. Circumstantial premise may connect backgroundrelation and solutionhood relation in rhetorical relations. Goal premiseand means-goal premise can be identified in motivation relations. Finally, value premise can be also identified through evaluation relationsand analysed with circumstantial premise and goal premise.
