Abstract

As public concern over diverse environmental issues increases, the importance of ecosystem services to human well-being has gained prominence. This study investigates national park visitors’ perceived benefits from national park ecosystem services and their visitor satisfaction, and analyzes how these factors influence conservation awareness and visitors’ quality of life (QoL). Using structural equation modeling (SEM), we tested the causal relationships among satisfaction with ecosystem services, conservation awareness, and QoL. The results indicate that supporting services and visitor satisfaction have significant positive effects on conservation awareness. Cultural services and conservation awareness, in turn, have significant positive effects on QoL, and visitor satisfaction also positively affects QoL. Mediation analysis further shows that conservation awareness fully mediates the relationship between supporting services and QoL, and partially mediates the relationship between visitor satisfaction and QoL. These findings suggest that the value of ecosystem services provided by national parks contributes to enhancing visitors’ QoL and provide key empirical evidence to inform future policies on the conservation of national park resources and visitor management.
