한국인 대학생의 일본어 학습 동기부여에 관한 연구 ―일본어 비전공자를 중심으로―

Abstract

This study conducted a survey on “motivation to learn Japanese” among non-Japanese language majors at Korean universities. As a result, among the 25 multiple-choice questions, the response rate for “endogenous regulation” of “intrinsic motivation,” which refers to learning because it is “interesting and enjoyable” in the “regulation stage of self-determination in the hierarchical structure of self-determination theory” was the highest. Considering the open-ended questions, the most common answer concerning the “reason for starting to learn Japanese (motivation)” was attributed to “animation, comics, games, J-POP” and “interest in Japan and the Japanese language” because of “internal control.” When asked about “how to utilize Japanese language learning in the future,” the most common answers were “external motivation,” “identification control,” and “external control” when faced with the reality of “employment.” Non-Japanese language majors are suggested to refer to these results according to their learning style. In addition, the results can contribute to developing a teaching method to increase motivation for learning Japanese by understanding and considering the learning status of learners in the field of Japanese language education.
