Abstract
During the past decades, research on the relationship between the built environment and health has emerged as one of the top topics, especially among health geography and epidemiology. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the built environment and health in Daegu. This study uses the Korea Planning Support Systems(KOPSS) and the Community Health Survey. Hotspot analysis, Pearson correlation test, and T-test were used to analyze correlations between environmental factors and health conditions. They showed that levels of walking, physical activity, and stress had strong positive autocorrelation and self-reported health status was very strongly concentrated in hot and cold spots. Environmental attributes such as accesses to park and river, and mixture of facilities associated with walking(+), physical activity(+), stress(-), and self-reported health status(+). By collaborating to build synergism, health geographers, urban planners, and pubic public health scientists can enhance efforts to build healthy communities.
