본 연구는 우리나라 항만체계의 발달과정 및 오늘날 항만체계의 공간적 특성을 밝히는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 1960년대부터 현재까지의 항만체계 발달과정을 2시기로 구분(항만체계 성장기, 성숙기)하였다. 먼저, 항만체계 성장기(1961~1990)에는 항만 화물량과 무역액을 축으로 한 산포도를 통해 항만들을 그룹화 하였으며 그룹별 항만의 특색을 입출항 화물의 종류 및 배후지 제조업체와의 관련성을 통해 분석하였다. 다음으로 항만체계 성숙기(1991년 이후)에는 항만의 기능 뿐 아니라 수출화물의 발생지와 수입화물의 도착지를 분석하여 항만과 지역과의 연계성 및 항만간의 계층성을 파악하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the course of Korea port system development as well as the spatial characteristics of the current port system in the national scale. In order to accomplish such objective, the process of port development has been classified as two different periods: development and maturing port system. First, throughout the period of developing port system from 1961 to 1990, ports were categorized by the scatter diagrams with the axis of the cargo volume in port and the amount of trade. The functional characteristics of each group of ports were analyzed through the kinds of export/import cargo and the relation with the manufacturer of hinterland of port. Next, during the period of maturing port system since 1991, the connectedness between ports and regions as well as the hierarchy among ports were found according to the analysis of not only the function of ports, but also of the origin places of export cargo and the destination of import cargo.
