This study analyzed errors in the usage of object case markers by female marriage immigrants. Commonly found errors were 1) using wrong case markers, and 2) omitting object case markers. Such replacement and/or omission took place as they failed to understand 1) characteristics of predicates, such as verbs and adjectives or intransitive and transitive verbs; 2) sentence structures that are determined by individual verbs, like embedded sentences or complex sentences, and 3) idioms and collocations. In other words, their common mistakes were caused by their poor understanding of predicates or sentence structures, not object case markers. Accordingly, language education should help them get familiar with sentence structures mostly determined by verbs. To this end, each verb should be presented in and with many different forms of sentences, not independently as a word. Considering few Korean language books for their learning contain such information, it is required to develop a dictionary or a well-established reference regarding verbs and sentence structures.
