It is certain that any usage of ‘-에서’ cannot be described as a usage of subject particle. There is only one kind of ‘-에서’ and it must be a locative particle. But some usages of ‘NP+에서’ are different from the typical ones of it. We can feel subjectivity in them by intuition. We can find some syntactic restrictions in them. Namely, they may be fixed at the initial position of a sentence or a clause sometimes. The word order between ‘NP+에서’ and (hidden) subject is fixed. ‘NP+에서’ must be ahead of the subject. Any other expression cannot be inserted between them as well. Then this like syntactic characteristics of ‘NP+에서’ can be fully explained, when we take it for a modifier of the hidden subject. So ‘NP+에서’, which is sometimes taken for a subject, should be described as a modifier of the subject.
