언간에 나타난 소망 동사류의 사적 변화 연구 -문형의 변화를 중심으로-

Abstract

This study is an investigation into the types and distribution of the word ‘ᄇᆞ라다’ associated with the concept of “hope”(望). The primary focus of this research includes 1,465 language materials from the Joseon Dynasty, as compiled by Hwang Munhwan et al.(2013ㄱ-ㄷ), and the “Joseon Dynasty Korean Letter Database” provided by 한국고문서자료관. In Chapter 2, an analysis is conducted on the syntactic structure of ‘ᄇᆞ라다’ using Korean letter materials spanning from the 16th to the early 20th century. The most frequent structure found regardless of the time period is [NP이 VP-음/기(를) ᄇᆞ라-], followed by [NP1이 NP2(를) ᄇᆞ라-]. On the other hand, the structure [NP이 VP-종결어미 ᄇᆞ라-] was commonly used until the 17th century, but its frequency decreased thereafter. Interestingly, the [NP이 VP-연결어미 ᄇᆞ라-], which is not found in Modern Korean, continues to be used until the early 20th century. In Chapter 3, based on the “Joseon Dynasty Korean Letter Database” constructed with modern Korean translations of some letters, the results indicate that verbs of hope have both indigenous word and Sino-Korean word, showing variations depending on the style of expression. Particularly in the Sino-Korean word, the combination of ‘ᄒᆞ-’ with characters such as ‘祝’, ‘願’, ‘苦待’, and ‘望’ was identified as a way to express the meaning of hope. Through the aforementioned discussions, I hope to see the expansion of research in Early Modern Korean and aim to have a foundational role in diachronic syntactic studies. The intention is to propose a method for better research utilizing the diachronic corpus established in the digital humanities era.
