Abstract
This study started with two teacher-educators’ critical consciousness of class in the preservice early childhood teacher education programs. The researchers attempted to experiment on the convergence of two subjects: mathematics and social science for young children based on Deleuze’s philosophy and Barad’s materialism. Diffraction and diffractive analysis functioned as an important tool to lead this experiment and analyze the research process. First, the binary boundaries including teacher-student, theory-practice, reason-emotion, human-nonhuman, and data-methodology were deconstructed. Second, the complicated entanglement of students, materials, conversation, weather, space, music, flowers, and the warmth of documentation were factors that contributed to the class equally. Finally, the researchers hoped that this diffractive and affective class-experiment could be regarded as one of singularity and performativity.
