본 논문은 후기구조주의(Post-structuralism) 담론에 근거하여 마그레브 초기 이슬람 이바디즘의 정착과 변형 과정을 살펴보고 분석한다. 후기구조주의 담론은 거대 담론에 대한 비판이자 극복이다. 오랫동안 서구 담론은 이 거대 담론에 근거하여 사물과 세상을 통찰해왔다. 이는 세상을 보는 방식에 있어 동일성 사유의 근간이 되었고, 서구 사회는 이를 통해 세상과 사물을 이항 대립구도로 보아왔다. 이런 방식은 북아프리카 이슬람을 논할 때도 똑같이 작동한다. 북아프리카의 이슬람은 오랜 기간 ‘중심주의’ 담론에서 논의해왔다. 즉 마그레브 지역은 수니파 이슬람 지역이기에, 이 종파를 중심으로 지역의 종교와 문화를 논의해왔다. 그것은 이 지역 이슬람의 <일반 문법>이 되었으며, 소수 종파는 거의 언급하는 일이 없다. 지역의 권력이 아닌 이슬람의 ‘소수자’이기 때문이다. 다수에 의한 소수자 보기는 구분과 구별로 이어지고, 때로는 차별과 배제의 대상이 된다. 그런 관점은 지역의 심층 깊은 이해를 저해하고 지역을 보는 데 있어 우리의 사유 방식을 협소하게 한다. 그러므로 북아프리카의 이바디즘을 살펴보는 일은 중심주의, 즉 ‘이슬람 중심주의’를 지양한다. 더불어 북아프리카 베르베르인이 이슬람을 수용하면서 그들이 추구한 가치관과 삶의 방식이 지배 담론에 대해 어떻게 반응하고 했는지의 과정, 더불어 그들의 삶에 녹아 오늘날까지 유지되고 있는지를 유추해본다. 이를 위해 우리는 철학자 질 들뢰즈와 펠릭스 가타리의 『천개의 고원』에서 언급한 개념어를 차용하여 우리의 논지를 전개한다. 그 개념어는 소수자, 되기, 탈주, 탈영토화, 재영토화, 배치가 될 것이다. 이 개념어는 논의의 편의상 차용해 온 것이지만 지역학 연구의 담론적 층위를 강화시킬 수 있을 것이며, 문명의 순환적 발전 가능성을 탐색하는데 기여할 것이다.
Abstract
Based on the post-structuralism discourse, this paper examines and analyzes the process of settlement and transformation of early Islamic Ibadism in Maghreb. The post-structural discourse is both a criticism of and a overcoming of the huge discourse. For a long time, Western discourse has given insight into things and the world based on this huge discourse. This has become the basis of the reason for the identity of the world in the way it sees the world and things in a dichotomic structure. This method works the same when discussing North African Islam. Islam in North Africa has long been discussed in the 'centralism' discourse. In other words, the Maghreb region is a Sunni Muslim region, and has been discussing the religion and culture of the region around this sect. It has become the local Islamic General Grammar, and the minority sect rarely mentions it. This is because he is a "minor" of Islam, not a local power. The minority view by the majority leads to distinction and division, sometimes subject to discrimination and exclusion. Such a view undermines the in-depth understanding of the region and narrows our way of thinking in viewing the region. Therefore, looking at North Africa's ibadism avoids “centralism”, or “Islamic centrism”. In addition, it is inferred how the Berberians in North Africa responded to the ruling discourse by embracing Islam, as well as the process of how they have responded to the governance discourse, and whether they are melting into their lives to this day. To this end, we develop our argument by borrowing the conceptual words mentioned in the" Thousand Plateau" of the philosophers Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. The conceptual words will be minorities, becoming, flight, deterritorialization, reterritorialization and arrangement. The conceptual word has been borrowed for the convenience of discussion, but it will be able to strengthen the discourse hierarchy of regional studies, and contribute to exploring the possibility of circular development of civilization in the Maghreb region.
