Abstract

]The only Political Union to receive detailed study during the Reform Act movement is the Birmingham Political Union(BPU). The traditional view emphasized that Thomas Attwood and BPU were the only national leader and forces in popular politics during the Reform Act agitation. But the revisionist C. Flick convinced that BPU was nothing more than a local organization with limited goals and limited appeal. N. D. LoPatin has argued that about 118 Political Unions were formed and were active in Reform movement between 1830 and 1833.
