Abstract

So far, I have been reviewed the Scottish Chartist movement and press. The conclusion is as follows. Firstly, the thesis was reviewed by Scottish Chartist journals, the True Scottman, the Scottish Patriot, and the Chartist Circular. The three media, each with their own colors, led the Scottish Chartist movements. The Scottish Chartist Movement was mainly developed by Christian Chartism, Teetotal Chartism, and Education Chartism, and the three media played a major role in promoting the movement from these three perspectives. Secondly, the Scottish Chartist press was largely anti-Whig, and opposed the use of 'physical force', albeit with occasional ambivalence. Although the three presses competed, the Chartist movement was divided and newspapers were shut down, but their common goal was clear. It was the reform of workers and society as a whole through the acquisition of universal suffrage, improvement of workers through education, the workers' abstinence movement, and reform of the church (Christianity). In the midst of these competitions and movements, various social reform programs were derived from and the Chartist movement was nurtured to continue in the 1860s and beyond.
