The expressions of the five senses, which are reproduced in Ming-era folk songs, also move between the ‘direct presentation’ and ‘metaphoric expression’ of the object. In particular, the most densely shaped area utilizing the five senses is the affection of men and women. Among them, sexuality is most prominent. Folk songs also evoked individual sensory experiences in the reader’s mind with the use of complex images. And this caused empathy and fun. Thus, the meaning of this paper can be found in the popular song of the Ming-era and the expanded understanding of folk literature.
