주의력 결핍 과잉행동 장애 초등학생을 대상으로 집단미술치료를 수행한 미술치료사의 체험연구

초록

본 연구의 목적은 ADHD 초등학생을 대상으로 집단미술치료를 수행한 미술치료사들의 다양한 체험을 탐구하여 그 본질적 의미를 규명하고자 함에 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 Max van Manen의 해석학적 현상학적 방법론을 적용하였다. 연구의 참여자는 총 15명으로, 2014년 3월부터 9월까지 진행된 자료 수집을 통해 총 9개의본질적 대주제와 34개의 하위주제를 도출하였으며, 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, ADHD 집단미술치료를수행하는 미술치료사는 혼란과 함께 집단에서 경험되는 여러 어려움들을 겪게 되나, 전문가로서의 꾸준하고 다양한 자기 관리로 이를 극복해 나간다. 둘째, 미술치료사들은 ADHD 초등학생의 보호자들을 만나며 그들을 또하나의 내담자로서 마주함과 동시에 ADHD 치료에 있어 부모 상담과 부모교육의 중요성을 깨닫게 된다. 셋째, 미술치료사들은 ADHD 초등학생 집단미술치료를 수행하며 아동들과 깊은 유대감 속에서 집단미술치료의 유용성과 장점들을 깊이 있게 체험하고, 미술치료에서 미술작업이 가진 특수성을 인식한다. 넷째, 미술치료사는 자신의 감정을 치료적 도구로 사용하여 개방, 공유함으로써 ADHD 초등학생들과 새롭게 소통하고, 이 과정 속에서 내담아동들의 변화가능성을 발견함은 물론, 미술치료사 자신의 관점 전환과 성장을 함께 경험한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the implications of various experiences of art therapists who have conducted group art therapies for elementary school children with ADHD. This study applied Max van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenological research method. The participants of this study included 15 art therapists, and in-depth interviews were conducted from March to September 2014. As a result, 9 essential themes and 34 sub-themes were derived and examined. The primary conclusions are as follows. First, art therapists who conduct group art therapies for ADHD children often undergo confusion and other difficulties, but they eventually come to overcome those difficulties through continuing and varied self-regulation means as a professional therapist. Second, art therapists face parents of children as additional clients and realize the significance of consulting with, and educating them in ADHD treatment. Third, the art therapists felt a strong bond with ADHD children, and they recognize the usefulness and strength of those therapies and become aware of the distinctive features of the children’s art work in art therapy. Fourth, art therapists use their own emotions as a therapeutic instrument by disclosing and sharing their emotions with ADHD children, which leads to a new way of communication with the children. In this course, they discover the possibility of the children being changed and experiencing growth and change in their own perspectives.
