Lu You was not only an outstanding writer in Song Dynasty, but also had rich literary thoughts. His literary thoughts can be seen in his poems, letters, and other written materials. Through these materials, we can find his opinions about literature, such as the essence of literature, the occurrence of literature, the function of literature, and the status of literature. Obviously, these thoughts of Lu You were inherited from predecessors, and at the same time, he also created and developed them by himself. Through the study of these materials, we can more deeply understand the works of Lu You. Like his famous literary works, his literature thoughts also have important value and significance.
