With the passage of time, Qu Yuan gradually became a symbol of East Asian culture that transcends national borders and a model for East Asian literati to learn from. Both his noble personality and excellent aesthetic ideas have had a profound impact on future generations. Among them, Jin Shixi was the poet who imitated Qu Yuan’s works the most during the Korean period. Qu Yuan had a great influence on Jin Shixi both in terms of personality and spirit, as well as in poetry creation. Jin Shixi, who regarded Qu Yuan as a role model, consciously imitated Qu Yuan and created many works that imitated Qu Yuan. The desire to approach or surpass idols inspired Jin Shixi’s desire to create. He tried to inherit the essence of Qu Yuan’s literature, but he did not completely copy it because of his worship of Qu Yuan. Instead, he pursued innovation in the process of imitation and constantly explored his own path.Jin Shixi inherited Qu Yuan’s works through imitation techniques such as reverse imitation, enlargement, character modification, and sentence imitation. However, he did not simply imitate, but worked hard to transform the talents of his predecessors into his own poetry and incorporated his own ideas, achieving the poetic characteristics of “difference in imitation” and “innovation in imitation”. Jin Shixi’s imitation of Qu Yuan’s works not only includes the traditional aesthetics of Qu Yuan’s poetry creation, but also incorporates the characteristics of the Korean Dynasty, the unique features of the Korean nation, and personal experiences into his poetry. Therefore, his imitation of Qu Yuan’s poetry is both connected and transformed with Qu Yuan’s poetry, and in this “intertextuality” of connection and transformation, the original text and the pseudo text achieve artistic resonance across time and space. That is to say, although the theme of Jin Shixi’s imitative poetry is to imitate the works of Qu Yuan, it also contains a strong and distinct personal color, which is a re creation of Qu Yuan’s poetry works. It has a strong intertextual literary feature that is both related and different from Qu Yuan’s poetry works, complementing each other. Moreover, Jin Shixi’s imitation of Qu Yuan’s works provides us with a rare model for cross disciplinary dissemination, acceptance, transformation, and sustainable development of literature, and showcases the internalized aesthetic characteristics of Qu Yuan in the context of foreign cultures. Therefore, it can be said that the study of Jin Shixi’s imitation of Qu Yuan’s poetry is of profound significance.
