Abstract

Sekwangtangkong (Arachis Hypogaea L.) was developed at the National Crop Experiment Station (NCES) in Suwonduring the period from 1989 to 19 through the cross betwen a disease resistance line SP8655 (Chungwon3/Wasedairyu) and anearly and high yielding variety Daekwangtangkong. Sekwangtangkong is belong to intermediate type of virginia erect type andspanish type with it's reproductive buds are born at branches sequentialy but not born at main stem, and vegetative branches areborn iregularly at the first and second branches. Each pod contains two kernel shape. Sekwangtangkong has shorter in floweringperiod, main stem, and branch length than that of check variety Daekwangtangkong. Sekwangtangkong showed strong toleranceagainst web blotch with infection rate 22.0 percent compared to 69.4 percent of Daekwangtangkong. The total fre sugar content ishigher and soluble tannin content and hardnes of steamed kernels at 105oC for 5 minutes are lower than those of check varietyDaekwangtangkong suggesting that this variety could be a god for use steamed unshelled fresh peanut product. Although, theaverage kernel yield of Sekwangtangkong was similer to check variety, but unshelled fresh peanut was out yielding check variety by31 percent with 7.64MT/ha in the regional yield trials.
