Abstract
A new peanut variety “Dakwang (Arachis hypogaea L.)” was developed from the cross between Suwon80 and ICG11 at the National Honam Agricultural Experiment Station(NHAES) in 2001. This variety has Shinpung type and erect growth habit with large size obovate dark green leaves. The number of branches is 11, the height of the main axis is 49 cm, and the length of primary branches is 54 cm. This variety has two kernels with red testa color in each pod and its 100-kernel weight was 106 g. The meat content was 71%. The seeds contain 51% oil and 23.3% protein. The yield potential of “Dakwang” was 13% greater than that of Daekwang producing 3,595 kg / ha . This variety would be registered as a new variety for all over the peanut cultivation area of Korea.
