A New Short Stem Peanut Cultivar, “Sangpyeong” with Lodging Resistant and High-Yielding

Abstract
A new peanut cultivar “Sangpyeong” (Arachis hypogaea ssp. hypogaea L.)was developed at the Yeongnam Agricul-and the very short stem cultivar “Satonoca”. “Sangpyeong” with Virginia plant type has more branch number with early floweringand ellipse-shaped large kernel, compared with the check cultivar. Each pod has two grains with brown testa and 100 seed weightwas 89g in the regional yield trials (RYT). This cultivar also showed more resistance to early and late leaf spots and web blotchcompared with the check one. Especially it has resistance to lodging owing to short stem.
