A New Lodging Tolerant and High-Yielding Glutinous Rice Cultivar “Dongjinchalbyeo”

Abstract

Dongjinchalbyeo is a new japonica glutinous rice cultivar developed from a cross between Milyang95 and SR1155-4-2/Toyonishiki by the rice breeding team of the National Honam Agricultural Experiment Station (NHAES), RDA, in 1998. Thisditions. It is resistant to lodging with its relatively short and stiff culm, about 80 tall in culm length. Dongjinchalbyeo has glutinousendosperm. It has good cooked rice viscosity compared with Sinseonchalbyeo. Dongjinchalbyeo is resistant to stripe virus butrice on the standard fertilizer level at transplanting conditions in the southern plain area of Korea. Dongjinchalbyeo is recom-mended for ordinary transplanting cultivation in the southern plain area of Korea.
