중등 사회 교과서의 지향 방향에 관한 논고

본 연구는 교육부에서 추진하는 2015 교육과정 개정방향이 ‘창의･융합 인재 양성’에 있음에 따라 중등 사회 교과서가 지향해야 할 과제 및 방향에 대한 제언을 기하고자 한 연구이다. 연구목적을 수행하기 위하여 현재 사용 중인 중등 사회 교과서 1, 2를 중심으로 분석하고 논의하였다. 교과서의 제작방향이 학생들의 사고력과 창의력을 향상하고 실천의지를 제고함으로써 문제해결 능력 향상에 주안점을 두어야 함을 전제로 연구를 진행한 결과 사회 교과서에 안전교육을 강조할 필요가 있으며, 정치 단원에서 ‘통일’ 및 ‘새터민’ 문제를 소홀히 다루거나, 세계화 단원에서 ‘다문화’를 빼놓고 다루는 것 또한 시정되어야 할 내용으로 분석되었다. 또한 교과서에 실질적인 사회과학적 시각을 갖추도록 구성하는 것이 중요하다. 학생 스스로 학습해나갈 수 있도록 개인별 또는 팀별 문제해결 방식의 전개를 위해, 읽고 쓰고 발표하며 토론하는 인문학적 구성방식으로 개선할 필요가 있다.
Abstract
This study attempts to provide proposals on aims and guidelines of the middle school social studies textbook which is under principles of ‘2015 revised national curriculum’; 'cultivation of human resource with ingenuity and grafting ability'. To fulfill the purpose, 1 & 2 of the current middle school social studies textbooks are analyzed and discussed. The premise of this study is that guidelines of the social studies textbook should be focused on improving students’ thinking skills and creativity and the current textbook did not accomplished it. Under the analysis, textbooks were lacking emphasis on safety education, missed out on ‘unification’ and ‘North Korean defector’ in politics part and ‘multiple cultures’ in globalization part. Moreover, provision of practical viewpoints in social science is required. Improvement in literary composition of reading, writing, and discussion for problem solving is suggested so that students can solve problems on their own.
