생명화 운동의 실천적 계승 연구 : 서서평 선교사와 이희운 목사를 중심으로

본 연구는 20세기 조선의 서서평(Elisabeth Johanna Schepping) 선교사와 21세기 이희운 목사의 사역을 생명 순환과 생명화(Life-ization) 관점에서 비교 분석하고, 현대 선교·목회에 대한 통합적 실천 방안을 모색한다. 두 인물은 불우한 유년기를 극복하고, 가난하고 소외된 자들을 향한 동일화된 헌신을 통해 예수의 생명 살림 정신을 실현했다는 공통점을 지닌다. 특히, 서서평의 교육 및 구제 사역과 이희운의 삼보일도 환경운동, 노숙인/달릿과의 ‘몸으로 믿는 목양’은 생명의 탄식을 하나님의 감탄으로 승화시키는 생명 가교자 적 사역이었다. 이들의 사역은 세상의 병폐를 회복하고 질서를 세우는 하나님 나라의 샬롬 공동체 실현을 목표로, 한국교회가 세속적 가치관을 극복하고 창조 신학에 기반한 자연 중심 신학으로 확장하여, 교단과 교파를 초월한 연대를 통해 전 지구적 생명공동체를 구축할 것을 촉구한다.
Abstract
This study comparatively analyzes the ministries of Elisabeth Johanna Schepping, a 20th-century Korean missionary, and Pastor Lee Hee-woon of the 21st century from the perspective of life circulation and life-ization, and explores integrated practical approaches for contemporary missions and pastoral work. Both figures share the commonality of overcoming disadvantaged childhoods and actualizing the spirit of Christ's life-giving care through dedicated service to the poor and marginalized. Notably, Elisabeth Johanna Schepping educational and relief work and Lee Hee-woon's Sampoildo environmental movement and 'embodied faith ministry' with the homeless and Dalits were ministries that acted as bridges of life, transforming the groans of life into God's admiration. Their ministries aimed to realize the Shalom community of God's kingdom, restoring the world's maladies and establishing order. In conclusion, this study proposes a life-ization movement, urging the Korean church to transcend secular values, expand toward a creation-centered theology based on creation theology, and build a global life-community through solidarity beyond denominations and sects.
