사회복지전공 대학생들의 평등의식과 옹호태도가 동성애에 대한 인식에 미치는 영향- 정신장애인에 대한 인식의 매개효과와 통제성의 조절효과를 중심으로-

초록

본 연구의 목적은 사회복지학을 전공하는 대학생들(954명)이 사회적․성적 소수자인동성애자에 대한 낙인적 인식과 관련요인들의 직․간접효과 및 조절효과를 실증적으로규명하는 것이다. 자료분석 결과 밝혀진 주요 내용을 요약하면, 첫째, 전체 표본의 경우, 옹호태도와 평등의식이 동성애자에 대한 부정적 인식에 각각 미치는 직접적인 효과는유의하지 않았지만, 정신장애인에 대한 부정적 인식을 완전매개로 각각 유의한 영향을미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 둘째, 통제성이 높은 집단(423명)에서는, 평등의식이 정신장애인에 대한 부정적 인식을 완전매개로 동성애자에 대한 부정적 인식에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 반면, 통제성이 낮은 집단(531명)에서는 옹호태도가 정신장애인에 대한 부정적 인식을 완전매개로 동성애자에 대한 부정적 인식에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나대조를 보였다. 사회복지전공 대학생들의 평등의식 또는 옹호태도가 동성애자에 대한인식에 직접적인 효과를 미치지는 못하지만, 정신장애인에 대한 인식이 동성애자에 대한 부정적 인식을 감소시킬 수 있는 매우 중요한 매개요인임이 입증되어, 정신장애인에대한 인식의 개선이 중요한 선행과제라는 실천적 함의를 발견하였다. 그리고 자율적 통제성 수준에 따라 동성애자에 대한 인식에 미치는 직․간접효과의 상이한 양상이 발견되어, 동성애자에 대한 차별 및 편견해소를 위한 프로그램 개발시, 대상자의 통제성 수준을 고려한 차별성이 반영되어야 함을 강조하였다.

Abstract

The study aims at verifying the direct and indirect effects on the prejudice against the homosexuality, based on a survey conducted with 954 university students majoring in social welfare. As a result of causal analysis of the variables by structural equation models, the notable findings are as follows: First, perceptions of equality and advocacy attitudes have no direct effects on the prejudice against the homosexual, however, those influence on it through the full mediation effect of the prejudice against the mentally disordered people. Second, while among people with high spheres of control, the perception of equality has a full mediation effect on the prejudice against the homosexual through the prejudice against people with mental disorder, people with low spheres of control show that advocacy attitudes has a full mediation effect on the prejudice against the homosexual through the prejudice against mentally disordered people. Therefore, the related direct and indirect effects on the prejudice against the homosexual are varied according to the level of spheres of control, the moderation effect of spheres of control are verified. In conclusion, social welfare students' prejudice against the homosexual does not directly influence by their perception of equality and advocacy attitude, however, the prejudice is reduced according to how they perceive people with mental disorder in a proper way as a mediation effect. Some practical implications are discussed based on the study's findings. Individuals' level of spheres of control should be considered when the program is developed to reduce discriminative perception to the homosexual.
