『논어』에 기반한 인성교육 모델의 이론적 기초

Abstract

This study aims to explore meaning of learning in traditional Oriental education and to find a character education model based on that notion. Through this procedure, this study is to examine practical applicability of Oriental character education in modern education and to clarify its modern values. Traditional Oriental education focusing on classics such as Analects of Confucius, Mencius and Great Learning seeks learning that combines both knowledge and practice. With this educational format, human pursues self realization and forms foundation to lead a right life as well. Furthermore, human discovers and preserves the true character of human nature and consequently finds values of human being, expands it even to others and society and ultimately, establishes desirable human character for nation and mankind. This learning has significant implications for today’s education which only focuses on academic practicality and is consequently buried in learning that degenerates into mere means and tools. Traditional Oriental learning suggests leads to solve fundamental issues in Korean education and provides theoretical foundation for right character education, which will serve as an important basis to seek directivity of modern education.
