일탈 청소년의 대인관계 경험은 어떠한가?: 조건부 기소유예 사례를 중심으로

How are the Experiences of Interpersonal Relationships in Deviant Adolescents?: Focusing on the Cases of Conditional Deferred Prosecution

초록

본고에서는 성장기 일탈 행위로 조건부 기소유예 처분을 받은 적이 있는 청소년들을 직접 만나 대화하고, 회복적 사법의 제도화내지는 프로그램 개선책 모색을 넘어 이들의 사회복귀 촉진과 지역사회 대응을 도모할 목적에서 연구주제를 자세히 논하고자 했다. 이를 위해 개별심층면담 방법으로 자료를 수집한 뒤 질적 사례연구 방식을 적용하여 사례 내 분석과 사례 간 분석을 시행했다. 먼저, 사례 내 분석을 통해 각 연구참여자의 고유한 인식과 경험을 개인별 맥락 안에서 비교 분석하는 방식으로 탐구했다. 다음으로는 사례간 분석을 토대로 모든 연구참여자의 상황과 특성 안에서 연구주제와 맞닿은 유사성을 발견하였다. 특히 사례 간 분석에서는연구참여자의 대인관계와 관련하여 12개의 구성개념을 찾아냈고, 이를 다시 구조화하여 ‘가장 가까이에서 밀쳐내고 흉 지게 해 마음아팠던 유년 시절’, ‘허울뿐이던 본능 좇아 그저 철부지처럼 사람 대한 어리숙함’, ‘한때의 방황으로 돌이킬 수 없이 어그러진 수많은사이’, ‘일탈로 처벌의 늪에 갇혔어도 빛 비추고 잘못 어루만져 준 따뜻한 관계들’, ‘사람이란 존재는 상처의 원흉이면서도 결국 날지탱하게 돕는 원동력’이라는 총 5개의 소주제를 밝혀냈다. 또한, 연구참여자들의 대인관계에 관한 인식과 경험은 ‘비뚤어진 행동과어긋난 사이로 망쳐버린 인생이었어도 다시금 사람과의 관계로 기대해 보는 변화’라는 중심주제로 최종 압축되었다. 이러한 발견점을기반으로 일탈 청소년의 대인관계 향상, 삶의 질 증진 등을 도울 사회복지 실천 및 정책 방안을 제시했다

Abstract

This study sought to discuss the research topic in detail by having face-to-face conversations with adolescents who had received conditional deferred prosecution during the period of growth due to deviant behavior, with the purpose of promoting their rehabilitation into society and community action beyond exploring measures to institutionalize restorative justice or improve relevant programs. Moreover, data were collected applying individual in-depth interview methods and analyzed using a qualitative case study approach, which involved both within-case and between-case analyses. First, the within-case analysis explored each participant’s unique perceptions and experiences within their individual contexts in a comparative manner. Secondly, similarities were found in relation to the research topic within their individual situations and characteristics based on the between-case analysis. Especially this analysis identified 12 constructs related to the interpersonal relationships of participants, and these constructs were restructured into the following five sub-themes: ‘A childhood marked by the pain of being pushed away and wounded by those closest to me,’ ‘Foolishness towards people, driven by a superficial instinct,’ ‘Countless relationships irreparably damaged by a period of wandering,’ ‘Warm relationships that provided light and forgiveness despite the mire of punishment for deviations,’ and ‘The existence of human beings as the source of wounds but driving force that supports me ultimately.’ In addition, the participants’ interpersonal relationships were distilled into a central theme: ‘Transformation from a life marred by perverse behavior and disconnectedness to renewed hope through human relationships.’ Based on these findings, this study proposed social work practices and policy measures to aid in the reintegration of youth who have experienced deviance, enhance their interpersonal relationships, and improve their quality of life.
