본 연구는 2009 개정 교육과정의 고등학교 경제 교과서 4종을 대상으로 이들 교과서에 세계화와 관련된 내용이 어떻게 서술되어 있는지 비판적 담화 분석을 통해 살펴보고, 이를 통해 어떤 유형의 세계시민성이 강조되고 있는지를 탐색하였다. 분석의 준거로 Gaudelli(2009)가 제시한 세계시민성의 다섯 가지 이론적 분류법(Heuristics of global citizenship)이 사용되었다. 분석 결과 세계화와 관련된 서술에서 국가주의와 신자유주의 이론적 관점의 비중이 높게 나타났으며, 내용의 전개 방식에서도 중심적 역할을 하고 있었다. 반면 마르크스주의, 세계 정의와 거버넌스, 코스모폴리탄 관점의 반영은 미비하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 세계시민성 교육을 위한 사회과교육의 역할, 경제교육의 방향성 모색을 위한 제언과 향후 과제에 대한 시사점을 제공한다.
Abstract
This study examined ways in which globalization related contents and viewpoints were discoursed, and what types of global citizenship were promoted in high school economics textbooks adopting the 2009 revised curriculum. Adopting critical discourse analysis, researchers analyzed 4 economics textbooks on the basis of the heuristics of global citizenship framework from Gaudelli(2009). Findings of the study indicated that neoliberalism and nationalism heavily dominated the textbook discourses regarding globalization, while Marxist, world justice and governance, and cosmopolitan perspectives were largely marginalized. This study sought to provide implications for global citizenship education in the realities of school settings, and in the field of economics education.
