Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC)과 American College of Sports Medicine(ACSM)에서는 다음과 같은 신체활동 지침을 권장하고 있다. 3.35±.55 mile/hour (3.5±7.1 MET), 77.32±43.97 min/day, 3.74±1.70 times/day 인 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
Participating in regular physical activity is beneficial to maintaining goof health. Several organizations including Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and American College of Sports Medicine(ACSM) have issued physical activity recommendations: "Adults should engage in moderate to vigorous physical activities for at least 30 minutes on 5 or more days of the week." Little is known about whether Koreans are meeting the CDC and ACSM physical activity guidelines. A total of 315 participants(122 males and 193 females; age 20~70y) were randomly selected from several parks, located in Seoul, Korea. The dose of physical activity data(i.e., intensity, duration, and frequency) were collected to examine whether the participants meet the guidelines. The physical activity intensity(i.e., MET score) was estimated by walking velocity, which was calculate by distance in 10-meter devided by time in sec. The physical activity duration and frequency data were obtained by personal interview(e.g., How many times did you participate in regular physical activity ([i.e., walking for exercise] last 7 days?). The results showed that participants' physical activity intensity, duration, and frequency were 3.35±.55 mile/hour (i.e., 3.5±7.1 MET, 77.32±43.97 min/day, and 3.74±1.70 times/week, respectively. Overall, participants met the CDC/ ACSM physical activity recommendations for exercise intensity, duration, and frequency. Considering that 61% of participants did not reach at recommended walking for exercise intensity level, i.e., 3.8MET in the compendium of physical activity by Ainsworth et al. (2000), more specific recommendations and campaigns are needed to elevate exercise intensity level for public health
